Been a long time...

It's amazing but I actually have a minute to write and a computer with internet to do it! It's been a long time since I've posted so maybe I'll just do a little updating on recent events.

Lately, things seem to be falling right into place. We're in the final stages of our visa paperwork. Yahoo! Plus, my job is going very well, and Oliver is finally enjoying daycare. Or at least that's what I imagine since he no longer shrieks when I drop him off. Now he even says goodbye to his "teachers." We're also presently looking for a new apartment since we don't want to outwear our welcome at his uncle's apartment. It has been a wonderful help to live next to his uncle without the extra expense of paying rent but at this point we're actually excited about living closer to some action since we presently live in boring suburbia. His uncle has been very generous in lending us an apartment--rent free--for more than the six months we originally told him it would take to finalize the visa. Once again, as expected, the visa process is taking longer than expected.

Happily however, on the subject of moving, I just came across an apartment for rent in the paper exactly across the street from Oliver's free daycare! Perfect. It's not too expensive, plus it's close to Jaime's mom and grandparents'. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I hope we love it and rent it. I'm also excited because next week, I'll start giving private classes to a friend of Jaime's uncle. More money, yeah! Plus he's a nice guy.

Things are going much better job-wise for my freelance photographer hubbie too. He just finished two dream jobs...jobs that he said he would have done for free but got paid for. Great! One was as a guide on a photo trek in Guadalajara with American Photo Magazine, the other was as the photographer at a 20s theme wedding that you can check out at his website under the link Samo y Ana (the names of the bride and groom). I wish I could have gone for the party...

In other news, (sounding like a reporter, eh?) Oliver and I took a great trip to San Francisco at Easter time to see my family. My two sisters liver there now. We stayed with Sus, my older sis and her hubbie Lo at their awesome new place. They were gracious hosts and seemed to actually enjoy the company of my active little toddler in their home. And luckily he didn't break any of their African antiques. Phew! Maybe you'll invite us back sis? We got to see the school were my younger sister teaches kindergarten, we ate out just the adults one night (my sister Liz's roomate looked after Oliver) and in general had a swell time sight seeing, eating out, tasting Napa and Sonoma wines, and best of all--just hanging out drinking lots of delicious mint tea accompanied with a few too many chocolate chip cookies. It was a great trip.
